Designed by Andrea Macruz, m.us.2 is a captivating wall lamp that draws inspiration from the intricate cavities found in shells and their topological deformations. This innovative piece was developed using parametric software, which allowed for the alteration of the distortion degree of various primitive shapes, including Möbius strips and Klein bottles. The lamp was then brought to life through the use of an industrial 3D printer.
Unique Design and Decorative Shadows
What sets m.us.2 apart is its complex shape, ensuring that each angle and view is unique and distinct. This design choice creates a visually captivating experience, as the lamp produces decorative shadows that add an extra layer of sophistication to any space.
Realization through 3D Printing
m.us.2 is made from a single 3D printed plastic piece, showcasing the possibilities that modern technology offers in the realm of design and production. With a diameter of approximately 450mm and a depth of 200mm, this wall lamp is a statement piece that seamlessly combines form and function.
Versatile Functionality
The versatility of m.us.2 is another standout feature. It can be used as both a wall lamp and a ceiling lamp, offering flexibility in terms of placement. Additionally, the lamp allows for the choice between direct or indirect lighting, allowing users to create the desired ambiance in any setting.
Award-Winning Design
m.us.2 has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures category in 2018. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that showcase outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skill, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
With m.us.2, Andrea Macruz has successfully merged art, technology, and nature, resulting in a truly unique and visually stunning wall lamp. Its intricate design, versatility, and award-winning status make it a must-have piece for those seeking to elevate their living spaces with a touch of elegance and innovation.
